澳洲音乐人Sarah Blasko出生于天主教传教士家庭，她的音乐记忆始于教堂的唱诗班。虽然有一个唱女高音老妈，但Sarah Blasko却并不认为自己的音乐天分遗传自这位“音盲”老妈，按照她的说法，是她那英文/历史学硕士的爸爸把她带进音乐殿堂的。
2002年，她在悉尼的家里和朋友们一起录制了一张EP『Prelusive』，这张EP并没有为她带来太多的关注，却为她打开了独立音乐之门。几个月后，Sarah Blasko和Brisbane的新唱片厂牌Dew Process签约。2004年，Sarah Blasko推出了第一张个人专辑『The Overture and the Underscore』，她的演唱和作词才华受到了评论界的一致赞赏。仅就创作才华而言，Sarah Blasko完全可以和Missy Higgins相提并论，但是她的音路比较边缘，有点儿偏慢偏冷，形象也不是很亲和，不太讨好乐迷。
在这张专辑里，Sarah Blasko并没有在演唱技巧上下很多功夫，嗓音里与生俱来的颓废感很轻易就能把许多感情唱得很矛盾很忧伤，当然她的懒散唱法能唱的如此婉转、优雅、精致也是相当不错的。
